Bluegiga releases a whitepaper for Health Device Profile (HDP)

Demand for remote and wireless solutions in healthcare systems is rapidly growing due to today's skyrocketing healthcare costs. This new opportunity has been actively met by both, health and medical device manufacturers and wireless solution providers resulting joint development of guidelines and interoperability principles for the industry use.

Bluegiga provides Bluetooth -based wireless solutions that meet high quality standards and are secure, cost efficient, easy-to-integrate, and simple to use. Bluegiga has been a contributing member of The Bluetooth SIG's Medical Working Group that is responsible for creating the Bluetooth Health Device Profile. Many companies in the SIG Medical Working Group are also the driving forces in Continua Health Alliance that has chosen Bluetooth as standard transport for wireless healthcare devices.

The Health Device Profile is available for both Bluegiga WT11 Class 1 module and Bluegiga WT12 Class 2 module which use CSR silicon and run Bluegiga's iWRAP Bluetooth connectivity firmware. Bluegiga is the first in the world to offer HDP for CSR based silicon. Bluegiga Access Servers and Access Points will support the HDP Bluetooth Profile later in 2009, enabling integrators to setup secure and reliable telehealth networks utilizing Bluetooth.
