Two Finnish companies were chosen to the "We Are the World"-hall in Shanghai World Expo 2010
04.05.2010
The products and technologies of Finnish companies Ball-It Oy and Bluegiga Technologies Inc. will be presented at the Shanghai World Expo's "We Are the World" pavilion which introduces the future life and vision. The Expo's selection committee chose carefully to their self-built and supervised pavilion applications that can improve the quality of life in a changing environment for a Chinese family becoming international as a basis. Ball-It and Bluegiga are the only representatives from Scandinavia.
The unique technology of Ball-It's Blobo virtual game fascinated the selection committee, since the possibilities of the game are huge and only few of them are currently in use. It allows families to experience time together and play the game physically in the same room and via Internet with players regardless of their location. In all situations where the game was presented it was the most popular among the selectors by transforming the meeting rooms into game rooms where intense competition among couple running and hammer throw took place.
The selection committee was convinced with the possibilities of using Bluegiga's leading
Bluetooth-technology in solving the increasing problems of the healthcare industry. Tele connection with the hospital and doctor combined with the standards of
Bluetooth-technology enable patience monitoring and analyzing results without doctor's appointment. Also, it is possible to have a 24-hour monitoring which permits fulfilling the care needs of the elderly population with a win-win principle. For example, blood pressure and diabetes patients can live at home as long as possible; hence the resources of the society can be used for patients that need continuous physical treatment.
Michael Chiang, Senior Executive Producer from IGD World Expo China office was assigned by the Expo to produce the program for the "We Are the World" pavilion. With his colleague
Lena Ng, he thanks both Finnish companies and their technologies that fit perfectly to the pavilion's philosophy of sustainable development, innovation and visionary. "We both were immediately sold by both companies and understood perfectly why the Expo's management wanted both Ball-It and Bluegiga Technologies Inc. as a part of the pavilion's future program" commented Michael Chiang.
Ari Siponmaa, CEO of investment company Aura Capital Oy that found and invested on both companies, thanks the exclusive opportunity to present extensively know-how of the two small and new, yet promising Finnish companies.
"I have to say big thank you to the Shanghai World Expo 2010 management for being so open-minded when they accepted to their "hall of future" small, near future promises as well. A place in the pavilion will definitely enhance the companies' expansion in China and naturally also bench mark them as technology leaders in their field worldwide. A big thank you for this opportunity also goes to gentlemen
Yu Lie and
Tapani Tuominen, a Finnish lawyer who has worked in China for decades, whose excellent connections made possible for us to connect with the higher level" comments
Siponmaa.
