New access devices offer long distance connectivity for any Bluetooth-enabled device
Espoo,
11 March 2011- Bluegiga Technologies today announced the availability of its new long range
Bluetooth Access Point AP3241 and
Bluetooth Access Server AX4. The products are designed for various eHealth, point-of-sale, proximity marketing, captive portal and long range
Bluetooth connectivity applications.
The AX4 and AP3241 both are powerful Linux based wireless connectivity platforms targeted for
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi® connectivity applications. The AX4 integrates a three high performance
Bluetooth® class 1 radios, 801.11b/g radio and optional 2G or 3G modem. AX4 and is more focused for applications where more connectivity options are needed such as proximity marketing and captive portal. The AP3241 on the other hand has a single
Bluetooth radio, Ethernet and USB host connectivity options, and is more focused for applications where a single
Bluetooth radios is enough, like eHealth. The
Bluetooth radios on both AX4 and AP3241 can provide an impressive 1000 meter range and even 60-70 meters to class 2
Bluetooth devices.
Furthermore both AX4 and AP3241 platforms can be easily customizable and localizable with the Access Devices Software Development Kit (SDK), which allows easy and rapid application development into both the platforms. Remote network management of the devices can be handled with the Bluegiga Solution Manager (BSM) software offered in a hosted version for small numbers of devices and as a client-server system for larger system implementations.
"In our AX4 we have implemented a multi-radio architecture, integrating multiple
Bluetooth long-range radios, Wi-Fi®, optional 2G/3G, and support for Power over Ethernet. With these features and available software, mobile marketing operators have a content distribution solution that is second to none. Our new AP3241 also benefits from the same long range
Bluetooth technology utilized in the AX4, giving medical, point of sale, and industrial telemetry devices improved connectivity in a small, highly cost effective platform", says Tom Nordman, Bluegiga's Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
