Bluegiga Technologies and Tritech Teknik AB enable intelligent communications between users and machines - M2M

STOCKHOLM, Sweden
Bluegiga Technologies, a leading supplier of industrial Bluetooth solutions for machine-to-machine communications (M2M), and Tritech AB, a leading consulting company within high-tech services and platforms with a focus on industrial applications, today announce that the companies will jointly offer a complete solution with the aim of enabling the wireless communication between machines, users and business systems.

Bluegiga's products combined with Tritech's systems expertise within the industrial sector and wireless communications, enable the companies to jointly offer complete products and system integration services to connect users, machines and networks independent of time & space. The purpose is to achieve time and cost savings by increasing the accessibility to devices and equipment for remote updates, monitoring, diagnostics or other wireless transactions.

Bluegiga has a complete, pre-certified platform- the Wireless Remote Access Platform (WRAP) - for industrial applications. The platform combines Bluetooth and Internet technologies and contains all the necessary components for machines to communicate wirelessly over Bluetooth. There is also enough processing power and memory available to develop the customer's application on the same platform
.
The companies see a tremendous need for implementing Bluetooth functionality in the industrial sector over the next years. The new technology enables substantial savings in the form of cable replacement, easier device management as well as faster information exchange between machines, users and business systems. In today's economic climate, there is high interest for strategic investments in process automation, remote monitoring, service automation and cable replacement which pay off quickly in increased time and cost savings.

Bluegiga and Tritech will primarily target industrial OEMs with a complete solution minimizing the investment risk and cost in the development of wireless M2M communications. Suitable applications include industrial robots and manufacturing equipmentar, measurement instruments, sensors, surveillance, alarm and access systems, medical applications, vending machines, parking and electricity meters etc.

Service staff and other professional users can read, monitor and update any device from e.g. a mobile phone equipped with Bluetooth and Java, PC or PDA with a web browser, without the need for expensive 3rd party SW licenses. The machine interaction takes place irregardless of geographic location, and devices report themselves when a malfunction occurs or if in need of service. This reduces loss of production considerably. Equipment servicing can be carried out faster and easier since technicians know in advance what needs to be done, and the service job can even be carried out remotely without the need for a field visit, saving time and costs. Various sensors can transmit information wirelessly - locally or over a network for wide area process monitoring. During a planned production stop, sensors may be read swiftly from a handheld device without the need for time consuming cable installation.

The co-operation between Bluegiga and Tritech will enable customers to embed the following functionalities in their machines:
Man-to-Machine - enables wireless access between machines and their users for remote reading and control from smart phones (JAVA over Bluetooth), PDAs and lap tops. This also prepares machines for "M-Commerce" (payments and other transactions using mobile phones).
Machine-to-Machine - replacing expensive cabling between machines. Enables wireless machine-to-machine communications (M2M) in the local area and increases the machine intelligence in each unit.
Machine-to-Networks - remote control, diagnostics, monitoring and data logging over the network to internet/intranets, computer systems, data bases and ERP systems.
